Is there a Chinese counterpart to Japanese Enka music?
I heard one song by Cheung de Lan that seems like it might fall in this catagory.

Re: Chinese Enka
Fri, December 17, 2004 - 3:21 PMTo me the Enka genre sounds very much like a lot ofthe popular Taiwanese music. Especially the Taiwan format of a guitarist and accordionist with a female singer. I think that this comes out of Taiwan being an old Japanese colony. Most of this stuff is in Taiwanese or from Hakka (Habhokien ???) and I don't know of any in Mandarin -
